Comments Extended for Mohican Native Hardwoods Restoration
Ohio Ag Connection - 10/10/2017

Interested stakeholders now have until Monday, Nov. 6, to submit comments related to forest management activities associated with the Mohican native hardwoods restoration initiative for Mohican-Memorial State Forest. Then all comments will be considered as the plans are finalized, according to the Ohio Department of Natural Resources (ODNR).

The proposed addendum to Mohican-Memorial State Forest's five-year forest management plan calling for the restoration of native hardwoods in parts of the forest was presented by the ODNR Division of Forestry on Aug. 21. The division is extending the comment period, which was scheduled to close on Sept 30, to provide stakeholders with additional time to ask questions and share their comments.

Mohican-Memorial State Forest's proposed addendum to the forest's five-year forest management plan is posted on the ODNR website at forestry.ohiodnr.gov/rnhi_mohican. This website also provides an opportunity for interested parties to ask questions that the ODNR Division of Forestry staff can review and answer.

Comments regarding the proposed addendum can also be sent or emailed to:

The ODNR Division of Forestry works to promote and apply management for the sustainable use and protection of Ohio's private and public forest lands. State forests are managed for multiple uses, including wildlife, habitats for threatened and endangered species, recreation opportunities, timber products, demonstration for private forest owners, and soil and water protection.
