Ohio Ag Connection - 07/17/2019

Five members of the Cleveland State University community have been selected for inclusion in Crain’s Cleveland Business’ list of Notable Women in Education for 2019.

Gina Huffman, assistant director of admissions for the Cleveland-Marshall College of Law; Anne Nelson, assistant dean of student services at the Monte Ahuja College of Business; Dr. Crystal M. Weyman, professor and chair of the Department of Biological, Geological and Environmental Sciences in the College of Science and Health Professions; and alums Heather Kama-Starr and Joelle Magyar were selected for their outstanding contributions to education, access and community development.

“The women profiled here are dedicated to creating and expanding learning opportunities for Northeast Ohioans of all ages, at all levels and in a host of fields,” Crain’s notes in its introduction to the list. “Their leadership, devotion and example are helping to shape a better future for our region and its people.”

Individuals were nominated by community members and then reviewed by Crain’s editorial staff. The final list of selections was published July 1.

“Anne has been instrumental in the College's efforts to provide excellent services to our current and prospective students," says Sanjay Putrevu, Dean of the Monte Ahuja College of Business. “She tirelessly gives of her time and talents not only in advising and recruiting students, but also serving as the driving force behind some of the College's premiere events including KeyBank Day at CSU and our annual Co-op and Career Fair.”

"Crystal’s mentoring of undergraduate researchers involves individualized training that takes students to the “next level”, to truly become capable scientists,” adds Dr. Meredith Bond, Dean of the College of Sciences and Health Professions. “She is dedicated to ensuring CSU graduates have the tools they need to succeed professionally and personally upon graduation."

“Gina is an enthusiastic and tireless advocate for students,” says Lee Fisher, Dean of the Cleveland Marshall College of Law. “She is a tremendous asset to our college and we congratulate her for earning this important recognition.”
