Ohio Farmers to be Recognized at FSR Thursday

The Ohio Department of Agriculture (ODA) will be recognizing five farming families who are conservation leaders in agriculture from around Ohio at the 56th annual Farm Science Review this week. Joining ODA will be Ohio Farm Bureau, Ohio Farmer and the Ohio Federation of Soil and Water Conservation Districts.

The 35th annual Conservation Farm Family Awards will be presented beginning at 11:30 a.m. Sept. 20 at Farm Science Review, 135 St. Rt. 38 NE, Steven P. Hawkins Amphitheater -- Lot 323, in London.

The five families to be honored are: The Brause family of Crawford County; Paul and Joanne Mechling of Ashtabula County; Chuck and Diane Hicks of Washington County; the Lohstroh family of Madison and Pickaway counties; and T. Wayne Vickers of Pickaway County.

The Conservation Farm Family Awards program has recognized Ohio farm families since 1984 for their exemplary efforts in conserving soil, water, woodlands, wildlife and other natural resources on their farmland.
