The U.S. Department of Agriculture's (USDA) Dairy Margin Coverage (DMC) program offers crucial support for dairy producers by providing price support to offset milk and feed price differences. With the enrollment deadline for 2024 approaching on April 29, it's essential for dairy producers to act now to secure this valuable safety net.
DMC signup for 2024 commenced on February 28, 2024, offering producers the opportunity to protect their operations against fluctuating margins. The program has proven its importance, with Dairy Margin Coverage payments triggering in 11 months in 2023, including two months, June and July, where the margin fell below the catastrophic level of $4.00 per hundredweight. This marked a significant milestone for Dairy Margin Coverage, demonstrating its effectiveness in providing crucial support to dairy producers.
To learn more about Dairy Margin Coverage and how it can benefit your operation, visit the DMC webpage or reach out to your local USDA Service Center. Don't miss the deadline for enrollment and secure price support for your dairy operation through USDA's DMC program.
