EPA IPM Webinar: Fungal Biopesticides

Biological pesticides, or biopesticides, are usually inherently less toxic than conventional pesticides and generally affect only the target pests and closely related organisms. This free webinar will discuss various fungal biopesticides — Beauveria bassiana, Metarhizium, Isaria (Cordyceps) — and their effective applications to manage pests, such as bed bugs and mosquitoes. The featured speakers will provide an overview on how fungal pesticides work and an update on current successful use cases.

This webinar will be offered on Feb. 21 from 2 to 3:30 p.m. Eastern. This presentation will be followed by a question-and-answer session.

This webinar will feature two speakers, Stefan Jaronski with the USDA ARS and Marcia Anderson, US EPA. Participants will:

- Learn about the various types of biopesticides, their characteristics, benefits and how they differ from conventional pesticides,

- Learn about fungal biopesticides and mycoinsecticides and how they are used for effective pest management, and

- Learn how these multiple strains of fungal biopesticides are properly applied based on the pest and the modes of action.

Those who register and attend this webinar can earn continuing education credits (CEU) from the Kentucky Department of Agriculture (KDA); these CEU credits can be applied to the renewal of commercial pesticide certifications.

Registration is required: preregister for this webinar at https://register.gotowebinar.com/register/2831499054611375118.
