Greg McGlinch of Versailles has been selected to serve on the 2026 Ohio Farm Bureau Federation (OFBF) Policy Development Committee, a group responsible for evaluating and organizing agricultural policy recommendations from county Farm Bureaus across Ohio.
The committee plays an important role in shaping the organization's policy direction by collecting input from local Farm Bureau members and communities.
After reviewing recommendations from across the state, the committee prepares a final set of policy proposals that will be presented to Ohio Farm Bureau delegates for consideration and voting during the organization's annual meeting in December.
McGlinch will represent Darke County on the committee. His involvement provides local farmers and agricultural stakeholders with a voice in statewide policy discussions that influence the future of Ohio agriculture and rural communities.
During its first meeting of the year, committee members participated in discussions and received updates from Farm Bureau staff and subject matter experts. Several important topics affecting Ohio agriculture were reviewed, including property taxes, land use planning, data centers, livestock management practices, and electricity availability.
These topics continue to be significant concerns for farmers as agriculture faces changing economic conditions, technological advancements, and increasing demand for land and infrastructure. The committee's work helps ensure that farmer perspectives are included when recommendations are developed on these issues.
The Policy Development Committee consists of 20 members, including 10 representatives from the Ohio Farm Bureau Board of Trustees and 10 county Farm Bureau members from across the state. This structure allows for broad representation and encourages collaboration between organizational leadership and grassroots members.
By bringing together individuals with diverse agricultural backgrounds and experiences, the committee can identify common concerns and develop policies that support farmers, agricultural businesses, and rural communities throughout Ohio.
The recommendations developed by the committee will be reviewed and voted on by delegates during the Ohio Farm Bureau annual meeting. Approved policies help guide the organization's advocacy efforts and provide direction on issues important to agriculture and rural development.
Serving on the committee offers members an opportunity to contribute directly to policy discussions that may influence farming operations, land use decisions, taxation matters, livestock regulations, and infrastructure needs in the future.
