I Love Blueberries Wins Book Award

I Love Blueberries Wins Book Award

By Andi Anderson

The American Farm Bureau Foundation for Agriculture has named “I LOVE Blueberries” as its Book of the Year, honoring author Shannon Anderson for her work in agricultural education.

The award was presented during the American Farm Bureau Federation’s 107th annual convention. The recognition celebrates books that teach readers about agriculture, encourage learning, and help share the story of farming in a positive and meaningful way.

“I LOVE Blueberries” introduces young readers to the process of planning, teamwork, and friendship through creative storytelling. The book is told through scrapbook style journal entries by a character named Jolie and creative sketches by her friend Margot.

Together, they learn how to grow blueberries while building a new friendship. The story encourages children to understand where food comes from and how cooperation can lead to success.

Shannon Anderson is a TEDx speaker, certified brain coach, and award winning children’s book author. She has spent more than 26 years working as an elementary school teacher and professor.

She also wrote the book’s predecessor, “I LOVE Strawberries,” continuing her effort to educate children about agriculture through engaging stories.

Anderson expressed her appreciation for receiving the award, saying, “It is a huge honor for ‘I LOVE Blueberries!’ to be recognized by the Foundation. I am grateful for the support of the agricultural community and am proud to write stories that teach kids where their food comes from. This book was a team effort, and I share this award with Jaclyn Sinquett for her amazing illustrations, and with the wonderful team at Feeding Minds Press, who helped this book grow. Thank you so much!”

The Book of the Year award is part of the Foundation’s Accurate Ag Books program. This program includes nearly 500 books for children, teenagers, and adults that provide accurate agricultural information. Books selected help create positive views of agriculture, inspire learning, and share the farmer’s story.

“I LOVE Blueberries” is available for purchase through the Foundation. To support classroom use, the Foundation has created an educator’s guide, downloadable materials, and an Ag Mag Mini focused on blueberries. The Foundation’s mission is to build awareness and understanding of agriculture through education.
