National Dairy Board Nominations Sought

The USDA is seeking candidates to serve on the National Dairy Promotion and Research Board, which includes two seats in Wisconsin. According to the agency, U.S. Agriculture Secretary Tom Vilsack will appoint 12 dairy producers from those nominated to succeed members whose terms are set to expire in October.

The 37-member board is authorized to design programs to strengthen the dairy industry's position in domestic and foreign markets through promotion, research and nutrition education. Their programs are financed by a mandatory 15-cent per hundredweight assessment on all milk marketed commercially by dairy producers in the nation.

Wisconsin currently has five producers on the NDPRB, including George Crave, Waterloo; Connie Seefeldt, Coleman; Randy Roecker, Loganville; Becky Levzow, Rio; and Evan Hillan, Ladysmith

Nominations must be submitted by May 31. For more information, call 202-720-1069.
