Ohio Congressman Releases Plan to Strengthen State's Agriculture Industry

Congressman Max Miller (OH-7) has released his priorities for the 2023 Farm Bill, aiming to strengthen Ohio agriculture and support the state's economy.

One of Miller's top priorities is to strengthen the farm safety net. This includes expanding crop insurance programs and providing disaster assistance to farmers affected by natural disasters.

Promoting rural development is another key focus for Miller. He plans to invest in infrastructure, education, and job training in rural areas to boost economic growth.

Conservation stewardship is also on Miller's agenda. He wants to fund programs that help farmers protect water quality and wildlife habitat, promoting sustainable agriculture practices.

Expanding export opportunities is another priority. Miller aims to provide technical assistance to farmers who want to export their products to new markets, increasing their global competitiveness.

Investing in renewable energy is part of Miller's plan to support innovative research and development in renewable energy technologies, promoting environmental sustainability.

Finally, Miller is keen on promoting nutrition and training efforts. He plans to fund programs that help people make healthy food choices and develop the skills they need to succeed in the agricultural industry.

Miller's priorities are based on valuable input from Ohio farmers and livestock producers, whom he met with earlier this year to understand their needs and concerns.

Ohio agriculture groups have praised Miller's priorities, recognizing their potential to address the challenges faced by farmers and bolster the state's agricultural sector.

The 2023 Farm Bill, with these priorities in mind, is expected to be passed by Congress later this year, setting the stage for a stronger and more resilient agricultural industry in Ohio.
