The 2024 Ohio Pork Congress concluded with the Ohio Pork Council honoring industry leaders for their exceptional contributions. Among the recipients, Dave Shoup of Orrville, Ohio, received the prestigious Ohio Pork Industry Excellence Award for his unwavering commitment to the industry at both state and national levels. Shoup, a veterinarian with a multi-generational farming background, emphasized the significance of collective efforts in shaping the industry's future.
Tom Blankenship of Morrow County received the Ohio Pork Industry Service Award for his outstanding volunteer service and mentorship, particularly in supporting youth initiatives like the Cardington FFA Pig Project. Madison Adams from Crawford County was recognized as the Pork Promoter of the Year for her dedicated work in promoting the industry through the Ohio Pork Council's Virtual Field Trip Program.
The Swine Manager of the Year title was bestowed upon Pat Dirksen of Rossburg, acknowledging his extensive knowledge and decision-making prowess in the pork industry. Additionally, AgCredit received the Friend of Ohio Pork Industry Award for its substantial impact and support.
Ohio Pork Council President Nick Seger commended these leaders, expressing confidence in the industry's ability to overcome challenges. Their collective efforts, he stated, ensure a robust and resilient pork industry for the future.
