The Ohio State University College of Food, Agricultural, and Environmental Sciences (CFAES) Center for Cooperatives is teaming up with the Mid America Cooperative Council (MACC) to host a free online roundtable on cooperative tax issues.
The session is scheduled for August 21, from 1 to 2 p.m. Eastern, and will take place virtually via Zoom.
The event will focus on the Tax Cuts and Jobs Act of 2017, many provisions of which are set to expire at the end of 2025. Of particular importance to cooperative businesses is Section 199A(g), a provision that affects agricultural and other cooperative structures.
Participants will receive updates on potential tax code changes and insights into what cooperatives should consider as these provisions approach sunset.
The roundtable will feature Bill Scott, a tax principal with CliftonLarsonAllen LLP (CLA). Scott specializes in tax planning and compliance, serving as a leader of CLA’s national cooperative tax team.
Based in Ohio, he works extensively with agricultural groups and cooperative organizations, providing expertise that bridges tax policy and practical cooperative management.
Attendees will have the chance to engage directly by submitting questions during registration, contributing to a live discussion during the event. This interactive approach aims to give cooperative leaders and members actionable insights for planning their tax strategies.
MACC, the co-host, is a multi-state nonprofit dedicated to strengthening cooperative enterprises. It works with cooperatives, support organizations, and individuals to promote the cooperative business model across the Midwest.
This virtual session will be accessible to participants across the region and will include automated closed captions. Additional accessibility requests, such as CART services or interpretation, can be arranged in advance.
Registration is free, and participants will receive Zoom connection details prior to the session. More information about the CFAES Center for Cooperatives is available at go.osu.edu/cooperatives, while questions about the event may be directed to Ann Luther at luther.111@osu.edu
