McCormick Earns 2025 New Farmer Grant

By Andi Anderson

Trumbull County Farm Bureau is proud to announce that Julianne McCormick of Burghill has been selected as the recipient of the 2025 New Farmer Expansion Grant.

A lifelong agricultural enthusiast, McCormick has deep roots in the farming community. Growing up on her grandparents’ dairy farm, she spent a decade as a 4-H dairy member, and has built a successful career as a full-time herdsman.

In recent years, McCormick has embarked on the journey of building her own operation, creating a small but high-genetic-quality registered Jersey herd under the Lavender Ridge prefix. She also operates a growing beef herd alongside her husband.

With clear goals for the future, McCormick plans to expand her Jersey herd and focus on marketing her genetics to a wider audience. Additionally, she is exploring opportunities in the niche A2 dairy market and aims to grow her locally raised beef business to serve local consumers more effectively.

The $1,500 grant will play a crucial role in supporting McCormick's plans. The funding will be used for continued education through industry seminars, expanding marketing efforts, and investing in equipment and cattle housing to accommodate the growing herd.

McCormick is also committed to fostering strong professional relationships and contributing to the agricultural community.

The New Farmer Expansion Grant was made possible by the generosity of an anonymous donor who believes in supporting the next generation of farmers. Trumbull County Farm Bureau is thankful for the donor’s contribution and the opportunity it provides to aspiring farmers like McCormick.
