Ohio Farm Bureau ExploreAg Camps Offer Free Career Learning Experiences

By Andi Anderson

Ohio Farm Bureau Federation will once again host ExploreAg Camps this summer, offering free educational experiences for high school students across the state. These camps are designed to help students learn about agriculture and related science, technology, engineering, and mathematics careers through interactive and hands-on activities.

Thanks to support from the Ohio Farm Bureau Foundation, all ExploreAg camp sessions are available at no cost to participants. The program encourages students to explore career options while gaining real-world knowledge from industry experts, educators, and scientists. Camp registration is open until sessions are full or ten days before each camp begins. Due to safety guidelines, space is limited at several locations, and early registration is strongly encouraged.

ExploreAg Camps are open to Ohio students entering grades nine through twelve in the fall, as well as recent high school graduates. The program focuses on building awareness of agricultural careers while improving understanding of how agriculture connects with everyday life and modern technology.

There are three main ExploreAg formats. The Explore by Region camps are one-day programs that highlight agricultural career pathways specific to different areas of Ohio. These camps are scheduled in Greenville, Lima, Marion, Medina, Garrettsville, Cincinnati, Athens, and Circleville between June and August. Each regional camp includes tours, demonstrations, and hands-on learning activities.

The Explore by Career Field camps offer in-depth exposure to specific agriculture-related professions. Students can learn about areas such as lineman training, meat processing, agricultural communication, veterinary medicine, food science, agronomy, agricultural technology, and harness horse racing. These one-day camps are hosted across several Ohio communities from May through October.

For students seeking a longer experience, ExploreAg also offers a weeklong camp held at Ohio State University ATI in Wooster from May 31 to June 5. This extended session allows deeper learning through workshops, campus experiences, and professional interaction.

ExploreAg is Ohio Farm Bureau’s signature agricultural literacy and workforce development program. It helps prepare students for future education and careers by building knowledge, confidence, and interest in agriculture and STEM fields. Through these camps, students gain valuable insight into career opportunities while developing skills important for the future workforce.
