Ohio Forage and Grasslands Council Annual Meeting Announced

By Andi Anderson

The Ohio Forage and Grasslands Council (OFGC) will host its Annual Meeting on February 7, 2025, from 8:30 a.m. to 3:15 p.m. at the Ohio Department of Agriculture in Reynoldsburg. This event invites forage growers, conservationists, and industry professionals to connect, learn, and share ideas to enhance forage and grassland management.

This year’s theme, “Feeding Forages ↔ Forages Feeding Us,” focuses on innovative strategies and research to improve pasture and hay systems.

Key sessions will include managing forages after a drought, solar grazing with sheep, and insights from local farmers on hay, beef, and dairy production. Experts from The Ohio State University and the Nature Conservancy will present cutting-edge research and solutions to current challenges.

Featured keynote speakers include:

  • Dr. Chris Teutsch, Forage Professor at the University of Kentucky
  • Dr. Emma Matcham, State Extension Forage Specialist
  • Dr. Marília Chiavegato, Agroecosystem Management Professor, The Ohio State University
  • Dr. Camren Maierle, Sustainability Director, American Lamb Board

The event will also feature service and achievement awards, vendor exhibits, and networking opportunities. Attendees can interact with peers, share experiences, and gather practical tips for on-farm improvements.
