The 2026 Ohio State Fair concluded on August 9 after a highly successful event that attracted visitors from across Ohio, the United States, and several other countries. The fair combined long-standing traditions with new attractions, educational exhibits, agricultural showcases, and family entertainment, making it one of the most memorable editions in its history.
A major highlight of this year's event was the introduction of several new facilities and attractions. Visitors explored the renovated Dairy Products Building, the Ohio-themed children's carousel, the Ohio Showcase Building, and the Ohio Agriculture Center. These additions helped enhance the overall fair experience while celebrating the state's culture and agricultural heritage.
Governor Mike DeWine praised the fair's success and community spirit.
“The Ohio State Fair brings families and friends together to celebrate the best of what Ohio has to offer,” said Governor Mike DeWine. “This year, fairgoers got to experience the revitalized fairgrounds firsthand, with the grand opening of the updated Dairy Products Building, the new Ohio-themed carousel, and the brand-new Ohio Showcase Building and Ohio Agriculture Center. Seeing so many Ohioans come out to enjoy these new spaces made this one of the most memorable fairs yet."
The fair set three major records in 2026. Attendance reached an all-time high of 1,025,190 visitors, surpassing the previous record set in 2023. Midway rides and games generated more than $3.3 million in revenue, while concession sales exceeded $9.2 million, both setting new records.
Ohio Expo Center & State Fairgrounds Executive Director Adam Heffron highlighted the collective effort behind the event.
"The 2026 Ohio State Fair was a tremendous success, welcoming record numbers of Ohioans to celebrate all things Ohio," said Ohio Expo Center & State Fairgrounds Executive Director Adam Heffron. "None of this is possible without the year-round work of exhibitors, vendors, volunteers, youth organizations, state agencies, law enforcement, sponsors, and, of course, the staff here at the Ohio Expo Center & State Fairgrounds. A successful Fair would not be possible without all of those groups, as well as our fairgoers from across the state, the country, and beyond, who came out in record numbers to make this year one to remember."
Agriculture remained a central attraction. Nearly 100,000 visitors explored the new imAGine Ag exhibit, while more than 22,000 livestock and equine exhibition entries highlighted Ohio's strong farming sector. Youth development was also a key focus, with scholarships awarded to young participants and thousands of exhibitors benefiting from livestock sale proceeds.
Visitors also enjoyed concerts, educational programs, kayaking, fishing, creative arts competitions, and family-friendly events. The fair welcomed participants from all 88 Ohio counties, with ticket purchases recorded from all 50 U.S. states and 23 countries.
Popular food items included lemonade, fries, corn dogs, funnel cakes, ice cream, deviled eggs, and various fair specialties. These purchases contributed significantly to the record-breaking concession sales.
The success of the 2026 Ohio State Fair demonstrated the continued importance of agriculture, education, entertainment, and community engagement. Organizers will now prepare for the 2027 Ohio State Fair, scheduled to run from July 28 through August 8, 2027.
