Pike County Farm Bureau Celebrates Agriculture and Future Innovation

Pike County Farm Bureau Celebrates Agriculture and Future Innovation

By Andi Anderson

The Pike County Farm Bureau recently hosted its annual meeting and members-only event, Farming into the Future, bringing together local agricultural producers, community leaders, students, and supporters for an evening focused on the future of farming and rural development.

The event attracted a strong turnout of Farm Bureau members who gathered for dinner, educational discussions, technology demonstrations, and recognition of individuals contributing to agriculture in the region. The program highlighted both current agricultural achievements and emerging opportunities that could influence the future of local farming communities.

A key feature of the evening was a presentation by Dale Arnold, OFBF Director of Energy, who shared information about upcoming data center developments and the expansion of local power and natural gas infrastructure. His presentation provided attendees with valuable insights into projects that may impact agriculture, rural economies, and future energy needs.

Technology also played an important role during the event. Guests attended a live drone flying demonstration presented by Dennis Corcoran with Buckeye Aerial Application Drone Spraying. The demonstration showcased how drone technology is becoming an increasingly valuable tool in modern agriculture. Agricultural drones are helping producers improve efficiency, monitor crops, and support precision farming practices.

The event also recognized community leaders and individuals who continue to support the agricultural sector. One of the evening’s major honors was the presentation of the prestigious Ohio Farm Bureau Federation (OFBF) Friend of Agriculture Designation to Sen. Shane Wilkin. The award acknowledged his ongoing commitment to supporting agriculture and rural communities.

In addition to recognizing agricultural leadership, the event highlighted the contributions of local youth. Students from the Piketon FFA and Eastern FFA chapters played an important role in the success of the program. Their efforts included serving dinner to attendees and assisting with activities and games for children, helping create a welcoming atmosphere for members and guests.

The annual meeting also provided an opportunity to honor Membership Award winners who demonstrated dedication to the Farm Bureau and its mission. Newly elected board trustees and delegates were also recognized. These individuals will represent Pike County at the upcoming Ohio Farm Bureau Federation Annual Meeting and help advocate for the interests of local farmers.

The event successfully combined education, innovation, leadership recognition, and community involvement. By celebrating achievements while exploring new technologies and future opportunities, Pike County Farm Bureau reinforced its commitment to supporting agriculture and preparing rural communities for continued growth and success.
