Meristem gains Matt Bornhorst for ag success

Meristem gains Matt Bornhorst for ag success

By Andi Anderson

Meristem Crop Performance, one of America’s rapidly expanding crop input suppliers, has welcomed veteran agronomic professional Matt Bornhorst as their new Strategic Account Lead for Nebraska and Colorado.

With over 20 years of experience in the agricultural industry, Bornhorst is set to bring his expertise in serving farmers, advancing new technology, and guiding crop input dealers to Meristem.

“Matt is a dynamic and results-oriented leader with more than 20 years of experience serving farmers, driving the adoption of new technology, and coaching crop input dealers,” said Mitch Eviston, Meristem’s founder and CEO, in announcing the new hire. “He’s another great addition to our team of all-stars and it will be exciting to see him amplify the traction we are already getting in the western Corn Belt.”

Before joining Meristem, Bornhorst worked at Pivot Bio, where he played a key role in developing their go-to-market strategy and managing a regional market.

His decision to join Meristem was driven by the company’s innovative approach, strong product portfolio, and talented team.

“Meristem is bringing a lot of innovation to the crop input business right now, and I’m really excited to be a part of this team,” said Bornhorst. “As I’ve been working with farmers using other biologicals, I couldn’t help but notice the success that’s coming from Meristem. Delivering their microbes through the Bio-Capsule is truly a game-changer when it comes to making this beneficial biology work toward gaining a better ROI (return on investment) for farmers.”

Bornhorst, a graduate of Iowa State University, has a solid track record of success in working closely with farmers and distributors. He will now be operating from his home in Nebraska, where he lives with his wife Beth and their three daughters, Deklyn, Malin, and Sloan.

“Matt knows farmers,” said Shane Brockhoff, Meristem’s Regional Sales Director for Iowa and Nebraska. “He has a lot of industry experience leading people and knows how to help others apply new technology to be successful.” Brockhoff emphasized that Bornhorst’s ability to connect with stakeholders will be crucial in helping farmers maximize their returns.

Reflecting on his new role, Bornhorst shared, “As a kid, I would always question why we did things the way we did them. Now I get the chance to deliver new technologies to farmers that I might have only dreamed about as a kid.

Meristem has a lot of opportunities for farmers to gain increased efficiencies and a better ROI – it’s an exciting time to be riding with this crew and I look forward to the journey ahead.”

Bornhorst’s addition to the Meristem team marks a significant step forward for the company as it continues to expand and innovate in the crop input sector, providing farmers with the tools and technologies they need to achieve greater success.
