NMPF Elects Brian Rexing as New Chairman

NMPF Elects Brian Rexing as New Chairman

By Jamie Martin

Brian Rexing, an Indiana dairy farmer and member of the Dairy Farmers of America, has been elected chairman of the National Milk Producers Federation (NMPF), becoming the organization’s 15th leader at its annual meeting.

In his remarks, Rexing expressed gratitude and a strong sense of duty, “I may be stepping into this role, but it isn’t about me,” he said. “It’s about who we represent, and the future we’re building together.” He operates New Generation Dairy with his wife, Ranell, near Owensville, Indiana. Their fourth-generation farm milks 1,200 cows and cultivates 3,500 acres of crops including corn, soybeans, wheat, and alfalfa.

Rexing’s leadership follows that of Randy Mooney, who chaired NMPF for 17 years. “It is one of the great honors of my life to work alongside so many dedicated farmer-leaders who care deeply about the future of dairy,” said Mooney. “I’m proud to pass the baton to Brian Rexing — a leader who carries forward the spirit of dedication, vision, and integrity that defines NMPF and our entire industry.”

NMPF’s new executive officers include Cricket Jacquier (Agri-Mark) as First Vice Chairman, Simon Vander Woude (California Dairies Inc.) as Second Vice Chairman, Craig Caballero (United Dairymen of Arizona) as Secretary, and Pete Kappelman (Land O’Lakes) as Treasurer.

The annual meeting gathered around 750 dairy producers and industry professionals, featuring sessions on economic outlooks, labor challenges, and the future of dairy. The event also celebrated new board appointments, honored retiring directors, and hosted the Young Cooperators Leadership Program.

The gathering continues with dairy policy discussions and the annual cheese contest, recognizing excellence in dairy craftsmanship and innovation.
