The Ohio Farm Bureau Federation has recently appointed new members to its Young Agricultural Professionals State Committee. The latest inclusions are Joe and Casey Everett of Shelby County, Mike Hannewald of Lucas County, John and Kacy Hummel of Franklin County, and Emily Warnimont of Hancock County.

Selection criteria for committee membership includes Farm Bureau involvement, leadership potential, and community service.

The committee, consisting of eight members or couples, is responsible for organizing the annual YAP winter leadership conference and hosting various events for Young Agricultural Professionals, ensuring they have opportunities to engage more deeply with Ohio Farm Bureau programs.

The Everetts, a corn and soybean operation, have diverse experiences. Casey, a reading specialist and Student Council adviser, and Joe, a full-time farmer, specialize in marketing at Ohio Ag Net Communications. Joe has received the 2021 Ohio Farm Bureau Excellence in Ag Award.

Mike Hannewald, actively farming in Lucas County and working as an agronomist with Beck’s Hybrids, has been a long-standing participant in the Young Ag Professionals program. He recently achieved the American Farm Bureau Discussion Meet win in 2023 and serves as the Lucas County Farm Bureau vice president.

The Hummels, who manage a significant farming operation, have been Franklin County Farm Bureau board members, with John currently its president. Kacy brings her expertise from the accounting sector to Nationwide insurance.

Emily Warnimont's background includes animal science and ag communication, alongside her role at Trans Ova and her involvement in Simmental cattle raising. She also contributes as the Hancock County Farm Bureau board secretary.

The Young leaders will lead the Young Ag Professionals Winter Leadership Experience, a networking and educational event for young agriculturalists, scheduled for the Columbus Convention Center and Hyatt Regency Hotel.

The Ohio Farm Bureau, dedicated to advancing agriculture and strengthening communities, continues to nurture young talent in the agricultural sector.
