Ohio Farm Bureau Welcomes New Young Ag Professionals State Committee

The Ohio Farm Bureau Federation has appointed five talented individuals to its Young Agricultural Professionals (YAP) State Committee:

• Joe and Casey Everett from Shelby County

• Mike Hannewald from Lucas County

• John and Kacy Hummel from Franklin County

• Emily Warnimont from Hancock County

These new members were chosen based on their extensive involvement in Farm Bureau, demonstrated leadership potential, and dedication to community service.

Committee Responsibilities:

Composed of eight members or couples, the YAP State Committee plays a crucial role in engaging young farmers and ag professionals with the Ohio Farm Bureau. Their responsibilities include:

• Suggesting, developing, and conducting activities that provide valuable opportunities for young individuals to participate in Farm Bureau programs.

• Planning the annual YAP Winter Leadership Conference, a key event connecting young agriculturalists and offering educational sessions on various relevant topics.

• Hosting Young Agricultural Professionals in a variety of in-state and out-of-state events, fostering networking and professional development. Meet the New Members:

• Joe and Casey Everett: Joe is a full-time farmer and marketing specialist, while Casey works as a reading specialist and student council advisor. Both are actively involved in Farm Bureau and have received awards for their leadership and service.

• Mike Hannewald: A full-time agronomist with Beck's Hybrids and long-time participant in YAP, Mike recently won the American Farm Bureau Discussion Meet.

• John and Kacy Hummel: John manages their family's sixth-generation farm, while Kacy serves as a technical director of accounting. Both are active in the Franklin County Farm Bureau and have attended OFBF annual meetings.

• Emily Warnimont: Emily works as the director of industry relations at Trans Ova and raises Simmental cattle on her family's farm. She actively participates in various agricultural organizations and serves on the Hancock County Farm Bureau board.

Upcoming YAP Event:

The young leaders will host the Young Ag Professionals Winter Leadership Experience on January 26-27, 2024, in Columbus. This annual event offers:

• Networking opportunities with young agriculturalists from across the state

• Educational sessions on various topics relevant to young professionals in agriculture
