On February 16, 2024, Jessie Schulze, an agricultural teacher at Delta High School in Delta, Ohio, received recognition as a finalist for the 2023-2024 Ag Educator of the Year through the esteemed Golden Owl Award. The award acknowledges the tireless efforts of agricultural educators in preparing future generations for successful careers while often going above and beyond in their commitment.
During the ceremony, Schulze was presented with a plaque in front of fellow teachers and students, and the Delta FFA Chapter was awarded $1,500 to support upcoming educational initiatives. This acknowledgment reflects Schulze's exceptional dedication and impact in the field of agricultural education.
Schulze now has the opportunity to be named Ohio's Ag Educator of the Year in May 2024 during the 96th Ohio FFA Convention. If crowned, she will earn an additional $5,000 for Delta High School's agriculture program, further enhancing opportunities for students.
Amy Jo Baughman, Executive Director of the Ohio FFA Foundation, expressed gratitude for the exceptional work of ag teachers across Ohio. The Golden Owl Award, with more than 450 nominations from local students, fellow teachers, parents, and community members, highlights the statewide recognition of educators' commitment to providing quality FFA experiences for students.
Schulze's recognition as a finalist is a testament to her outstanding contributions to agricultural education and the positive impact she has made in the lives of her students at Delta High School.
