The 2024 Noble County Fair featured a strong focus on farmer mental health, with the Mental Health and Recovery Services Board partnering with the Noble County Farm Bureau to conduct a farmer mental health survey.
The survey, held throughout the week of the fair, saw an impressive 195 participants, demonstrating the community’s engagement in mental health awareness and support for local farmers.
To encourage participation, the organizers held a drawing for valuable farm equipment. Seventeen names were drawn from the participants, with winners taking home items such as round bale wagons, bush hogs, feeders, and gift certificates for meat processing services.
Some of the notable winners included Jodi Schott, who won a round bale wagon, and Sami Hull, who received a bale wrapper. Additionally, several participants won Stihl equipment like hedge clippers, chainsaws, and battery trimmers.
The survey aimed to raise awareness about the importance of mental health among farmers, with the reminder to “Check your fence, Check your neighbor,” encouraging a strong community focus on well-being and support.
Another highlight of the fair was the Skillathon, sponsored by the Noble County Farm Bureau. The Skillathon provided an educational opportunity for all participating exhibitors, who were rewarded for their efforts with a T-shirt. The event served to promote agricultural skills and friendly competition among local youth.
With its combination of mental health advocacy, community support, and educational programs, the 2024 Noble County Fair successfully combined fun with meaningful initiatives to enhance the well-being of local farmers and their families.
The fair continues to be a strong platform for raising awareness on important issues and celebrating the agricultural community.
