Pike County Empowers Next-Gen Farmers

By Andi Anderson

Pike County (Ohio) Farm Bureau’s Ag Career Connections events have been a successful way of introducing individuals of all ages to career opportunities within agriculture.

These events have reached over 900 people, ranging from third graders to older adults, showcasing the wide range of career possibilities in the agricultural field.

At each event, participants are introduced to 10 distinct career pathways in agriculture, with detailed information about the various occupations within each path. This includes providing insight into the level of education required for each job and the potential salaries that these careers can offer.

By providing this valuable information, the Pike County Farm Bureau is helping attendees understand the diverse opportunities that agriculture has to offer beyond traditional farming roles.

The event focuses on increasing awareness about agriculture as an industry that extends far beyond the farm, with numerous career options in areas such as agriculture technology, marketing, finance, and environmental management.

The Farm Bureau's initiative not only highlights the career opportunities but also inspires young students to consider a future in agriculture, encouraging them to pursue the necessary educational paths to enter the industry.

Through the Ag Career Connections events, Pike County Farm Bureau is not only educating the public but also contributing to the development of the next generation of agriculture professionals.

This outreach serves as a bridge to connecting people to the agricultural workforce and supporting the growth of a critical sector of the economy.
