Expect a predominantly cloudy day today as our lingering unsettled weather pattern gradually shifts eastward. The presence of clouds will keep temperatures in check, while humidity levels remain relatively high. Scattered showers are likely during the afternoon and evening hours, although rainfall amounts will be modest, ranging from a few hundredths to around half an inch. These showers will affect approximately 60% of Ohio.
In this week dry conditions prevail across the entire state, granting us three consecutive precipitation-free days. Humidity may temporarily decrease, but it begins to rise again on Wednesday and Thursday as southwest winds transport moisture from the west. A significant moisture system developing over Wisconsin, Iowa, Illinois, and Missouri will reach our region early on Friday, persisting into the afternoon. Rainfall totals during this period may range from 0.1 to 0.75 inches, with 80% coverage. Please refer to the accompanying map for more details.
Saturday will be dry, but Sunday brings the chance of scattered showers, albeit with slightly less coverage at around 60%. Monday and Tuesday of the following week show some instability in the weather pattern. However, we anticipate a widespread clearing across much of the country and the development of an upper-level ridge, suggesting a potentially rain-free period for the latter half of July's second week. This dry spell comes just in time for wheat harvest, especially in select areas.
