Six local businessmen, including one of Ohio's top marijuana growers, have opened King City Gardens, the state's newest indoor cannabis farm. The farm is located in Forest Park in the long-abandoned Kmart along Omniplex Court near Interstate 275.
The farm has been in the works for years and represents a $33 to $35 million investment. It is expected to create roughly 100 jobs during its initial phase.
The six-man ownership group is composed of Bill Foster, co-owner of E+O Kitchen; Steve Anevski, co-founder of business staffing platform Upshift; and Caveh Azadeh, owner of NRL Mortgage in Mount Adams and its nearby Bow Tie Cafe.
The goal of King City Gardens is to grow craft cannabis at scale. The farm will use state-of-the-art technology to produce high-quality, consistent products.
King City Gardens is the latest addition to Ohio's growing medical marijuana industry. The state has issued 23 Level 1 cultivation licenses.
