The Ohio Department of Commerce Division of State Fire Marshal kicks off its statewide tour visiting Ohio’s fire service from 10 a.m. to noon March 9 at the Lebanon Fire Department (Warren County). These outreach events will be held in various regions across the state to provide an opportunity for firefighters and community members to meet with the State Fire Marshal, Deputy Marshal and the Division Command Staff, understand the role of the eight bureaus, and ask questions.
“We want to meet our stakeholders and showcase how the Division is available to better serve the fire service,” said State Fire Marshal Kevin Reardon, “Many fire departments don’t really know what the State Fire Marshal’s Office does as an organization, and we want to change that with this tour.”
The Division State of Fire Marshal consists of eight bureaus whose mission is to safeguard the public, its property and the environment from fire and related risks through education, regulation, investigation, and enforcement. In addition to the administration arm of the division, command staff representatives will be on hand from:
- Bureau of Testing and Registration
- Ohio Fire Academy
- Code Enforcement Bureau
- Fire & Explosion Investigation Bureau
- Bureau of Underground Storage Tanks Regulations
- Forensic Lab
- Fire Prevention Bureau
"I'm looking forward to help tell our story,” said Deputy Fire Marshal Richard Sluder. “The Fire Marshal's Office has a magnificent group of professionals positioned across Ohio that are always ready to serve the needs of the fire service."
These meetings are free and open to the public. Other meetings include:
