Supporting youth in Ag - Bob Evans Farms donates $115K

By Andi Anderson

Bob Evans Farms recently contributed $115,000 to the Ohio Farm Bureau Foundation, reinforcing a partnership that has spanned over a decade and highlighting its commitment to Ohio's agriculture sector. This generous donation will support programs that engage and prepare young people for future careers in agriculture.

“We are very grateful for the unwavering support from Bob Evans Farms and their dedication to fostering educational opportunities and igniting a passion for agriculture careers among youth,” said Kelly Burns, executive director of the Ohio Farm Bureau Foundation. “It’s partners like Bob Evans Farms that enable the foundation to continue to offer innovative programs that shape the agricultural leaders of tomorrow.”

Since the inception of the Ohio Farm Bureau’s ExploreAg program in 2018, Bob Evans Farms has played a significant role, providing funding and unique learning experiences for high school students interested in agriculture. Through ExploreAg, teens gain insight into the world of agriculture via immersive tours at locations such as Bob Evans Farms’ facilities in Xenia and Lima.

“Bob Evans Farms and Ohio Farm Bureau Foundation share a long-standing commitment to supporting our farm and food community,” stated Devra Cornell, chief human resources officer at Bob Evans Farms. “We are pleased to further our partnership to ensure a sustainable future for Ohio agriculture through youth program initiatives such as ExploreAg.”

ExploreAg is the Ohio Farm Bureau’s primary program for agricultural literacy and workforce development, offering free weeklong, multiday, and daylong immersion experiences.

Students learn about agriculture and STEM fields from experts, visiting companies like Kroger, John Deere, and Certified Angus Beef, as well as research labs at universities like Ohio State, Wilmington, and Findlay. The program aims to help students develop leadership, teamwork, and industry knowledge essential for future careers in agriculture.
