Volunteer Firefighter Task Force Ohio Roundtables Set

The Ohio Task Force on Volunteer Fire Service kicks off its regional roundtable listening tour in northeast Ohio from 3:30 to 5:30 p.m. July 27 at the Wayne County Regional Training Facility in Apple Creek (Wayne County). These roundtable events will be held in various regions across the state and provide an opportunity for firefighters and community members to share information with members of the task force. The task force will then be responsible for making recommendations to improve the sustainability of the volunteer fire service in Ohio.

The goal at these regional meetings is to solicit input from the volunteer fire department community regarding the issues and challenges that they are facing everyday throughout Ohio.

Statewide Regional Roundtable Schedule:

NORTHEAST -- July 27, 3:30--5:30 p.m., Wayne County Regional Training Facility, 2725 S. Millborne Rd., Apple Creek

NORTHWEST -- Aug. 17, 3:30--5:30 p.m., Penta Career Center, 9301 Buck Rd., Perrysburg

SOUTHEAST -- Aug. 20, 10 a.m.--12:30 p.m., Hamden Firefighters Community Facility, 138 E. Railroad St., Hamden

SOUTHWEST -- Oct. 1, 10 a.m.-12:30 p.m., Warren County Career Center, 3525 OH-48, Lebanon

CENTRAL -- Sept. 28, 3:30--5:30 p.m., State Fire Marshal office, 8895 E Main St, Reynoldsburg; and Oct. 8, 10 a.m.--12:30 p.m., State Fire Marshall office, 8895 E Main St, Reynoldsburg

It is extremely important that the volunteer community participate in these meetings so potential solutions can be explored. In addition, a separate survey will be distributed later this summer that will also be seeking input from the volunteer firefighting community to further help guide the work of the Task Force. Both the regional meetings and the completion of the future survey are very important to help improve the critical services that our volunteer fire departments provide.

These meetings are free and open to the public. RSVP and learn more about the volunteer taskforce and its mission.
