Ohio Autumn from a Wagon at Hocking State Forest
Ohio Ag Connection - 10/10/2017

Hocking State Forest will host the annual Fall Foliage in the Forest tour on Oct. 14 from 10 a.m. to 3 p.m. featuring the fall color and beauty of Hocking State Forest. The event is sponsored by the Ohio Department of Natural Resources (ODNR).

Fall is a very popular time to explore the Hocking region, and this event will be held on the same day as the Grandma Gatewood's fall color hike at Hocking Hills State Park. For people wanting to visit Hocking Hills and try something new and different, this Fall Foliage in the Forest event with free wagon tours is a great option. We will be learning more about our forestry and wildlife stewardship that helps keep Hocking State Forest healthy and productive for the many ecological and economic benefits forests provide.

The tours begin at the historic Hocking State Forest Cabin, located at 19275 State Route 374, Rockbridge, 43149. The event is free, and parking is provided.

The Fall Foliage in the Forest event will feature forestry displays, bean soup and cornbread, equipment demonstrations and free wagon tours. The wagon tours meander through the state forest and highlight tree identification, natural oak regeneration, forest practices to encourage healthy tree growth, methods to improve wildlife habitat, tips for woodland owners, efforts to protect the Hocking region's hemlock trees from the hemlock woolly adelgid, invasive plant control and much more.
