Ohio Department of Agriculture Initiates H2Ohio Enrollment Kickoff Event in Putnam County

The Ohio Department of Agriculture (ODA) is set to host an informative kickoff event for the enrollment of the H2Ohio program in Putnam County. This program, which initially covered 14 counties within the Maumee River Watershed, focuses on encouraging producers to enroll acreage into scientifically proven best management practices (BMPs). These practices play a crucial role in improving water quality in Lake Erie and various other water bodies.
The event comes hot on the heels of Governor Mike DeWine's recent announcement of the statewide expansion of the H2Ohio initiative. Under this expansion, ODA is gearing up to enroll an additional 500,000 acres across the state, further reinforcing Ohio's commitment to enhancing water quality.
The agenda for the event includes an exciting visual demonstration conducted by Midwest Air, LLC, showcasing aerial cover crop seeding. This demonstration underscores the innovative approaches and technologies that are being employed to advance the goals of the H2Ohio program.
