The Ohio Expositions Commission, under the appointment of Governor Mike DeWine, has named Adam Heffron as the new executive director of the Ohio Expo Center and State Fair. Heffron, taking over from the retiring Virgil Strickler, brings over 30 years of experience in the hospitality and entertainment industry, including a strong background in organizing major music and agricultural events.
Coming from his previous role as the director of Dane County’s Alliant Energy Center in Wisconsin, Heffron has a wealth of experience in managing multi-venue events centers, with a focus on hosting agricultural and large-scale events. His leadership roles include stints with prominent events such as the Wisconsin State Fair, Washington State Fair, and the Minnesota State Fair.
In his previous role as the director of facilities and operations for Milwaukee World Festival, Inc., Heffron contributed to the success of Summerfest, one of the world’s largest music festivals, generating substantial economic impact for the Milwaukee community.
Adam Sharp, Executive Vice President of Ohio Farm Bureau, expressed confidence in Heffron's ability to lead, stating, "We look forward to working with Mr. Heffron as the plans to enhance the Ohio State Fair and other popular events at the Ohio Expo Center come to fruition for the betterment of Ohio agriculture."
Governor Mike DeWine also welcomed Heffron, expressing excitement about the new leadership. He anticipates Heffron leading the changes outlined in the Expo 2050 plan, aimed at making the Ohio State Fair and expo center the best in the nation.
Heffron is expected to assume his role as executive director in March, ready to contribute to the ongoing legacy of the Ohio Expo Center and State Fair while working towards the vision outlined in the Expo 2050 plan.
