Aggie’s Camp, launched in 2022 by the Mowrystown FFA Chapter in Ohio, offers young participants a unique, hands-on experience in livestock care and agriculture.
Designed to extend agricultural education beyond the basic Ag Day events held at local schools, the three-day camp immerses youth in the responsibilities and rewards of raising animals while teaching vital life skills like teamwork, compassion, and leadership.
Throughout the camp, attendees learn essential skills such as grooming techniques, animal behavior, and nutrition. These activities help build confidence and foster a deeper connection with livestock.
In addition to animal care, campers engage in creative projects, like making their own flower pots, where they learn about plant growth and the importance of horticulture. This approach helps them understand the broader agricultural ecosystem and appreciate nature’s role in farming.
Aggie’s Camp also includes fishing trips, providing campers with a fun and educational way to learn about aquatic life and conservation. By connecting with the local environment, they gain a broader understanding of sustainable practices in agriculture and the importance of caring for the land.
Guided by experienced mentors, campers leave Aggie’s Camp with practical knowledge, stronger leadership skills, and a renewed enthusiasm for agriculture. The bonds they form with animals, fellow campers, and the land instill a strong sense of responsibility and stewardship—qualities they will carry into their future endeavors.
At Aggie’s Camp, the focus is not just on growing crops but on cultivating young leaders who will carry the values of teamwork, compassion, and environmental care into the future.
