The Sandusky County Chamber of Commerce's annual Ag Breakfast took place on Wednesday at Ole Zim's Wagon Shed in Gibsonburg.
This event kicks off National Agriculture Week and celebrates the local agricultural industry.
The chamber was joined by elected officials, board members, ambassadors and local Future Farmers of America (FFA) chapters: Fremont, Gibsonburg, Clyde-Green Springs and Lakota.
FFA students presented projects they've been working on and gave speeches they've prepared for competitions throughout the year, including FFA student Alexis Mahler, who presented her speech on "Women in Agriculture and FFA."
Kirsten Kemner from the Ohio Farm Bureau was the guest speaker at the event and presented on Young Agricultural Professionals opportunities.
The chamber has presented a farmer of the year award since 1966 and an agricultural service award since 1990. This year they will be presenting an all-encompassing agriculture award during the Sandusky County Fair, Aug. 21-27. Nominations for this award will be posted in early June to the chamber's website, scchamber.org, and its Facebook page.
