The Ohio Farm Bureau is now accepting applications for its 2025 Young Agricultural Professionals (YAP) competitive events.
These events include the Discussion Meet, Excellence in Agriculture, and Outstanding Young Farmer contests, all of which aim to recognize and encourage leadership among young agricultural professionals ages 18-35.
The Discussion Meet simulates a committee meeting where participants actively discuss and exchange ideas on a predetermined agricultural topic.
Competitors are evaluated on their ability to contribute to the conversation, build consensus, and explore solutions. Applications for this event are due by September 30, 2024.
The Excellence in Agriculture award highlights young professionals, either as individuals or couples, who are making significant contributions to Farm Bureau and agriculture, but whose primary income does not come from direct production. Finalists will present before a panel of judges. Applications are due by December 20, 2024.
The Outstanding Young Farmer contest is designed to recognize young farmers who demonstrate excellence in business and leadership in the agricultural community.
Applicants must have the majority of their income from farming and production risk. Applications are also due by December 20, 2024.
State winners will receive an all-expenses-paid trip to the American Farm Bureau Annual Convention and other benefits, including the YAP Winter Leadership Experience and a $3,000 prize. Finalists will receive Farm Bureau jackets and complimentary event registration.
The YAP program offers year-round opportunities for leadership development through events like the Winter Leadership Experience and the Washington, D.C. Leadership Experience.
