Full Reallocation Plan Supports Farmers and Drivers

Full Reallocation Plan Supports Farmers and Drivers

By Jamie Martin

The American Farm Bureau Federation (AFBF) has voiced strong approval of the Environmental Protection Agency’s proposal to reallocate renewable fuel production volumes lost to small refinery exemptions.

AFBF President Zippy Duvall called renewable fuels an important part of America’s energy strategy, noting that the EPA’s action reinforces the critical role of farmers in producing biofuels. The proposal is designed to ensure that renewable fuel targets are met, even when certain small refineries are excused from blending obligations.

By reallocating these volumes, the EPA intends to preserve production levels, maintain steady demand for crops used in biofuel manufacturing, and promote energy independence through American-grown fuels.

“Farm Bureau urges EPA to adopt a full, 100 percent reallocation approach, which will help lower fuel costs for drivers while expanding economic opportunities in rural America,” said AFBF President Zippy Duvall.

Supporters believe that a complete reallocation would strengthen farm income by protecting markets for corn and other feedstocks and would also provide environmental benefits by encouraging cleaner fuel use.

This proposal, if fully adopted, represents a significant step toward enhancing rural economies, promoting renewable energy, and ensuring that U.S. farmers remain at the center of the nation’s energy future. By closing the gap created by refinery exemptions, the plan offers a path toward stronger biofuel production and economic growth in farming communities across the country.
