His pivotal roles in public service, including tenure in the Ohio House, Ohio Senate, and U.S. House of Representatives, have shaped federal water resource policy, funding initiatives, and improved water accessibility for communities.

Lahmers’ leadership roles in the county Farm Bureau led to the initiation of several impactful programs. His contributions spanned three terms as a trustee on the Ohio Farm Bureau board of trustees.
