The Ohio Department of Agriculture (ODA) has announced a new initiative to improve amusement ride safety in the state. The program, which is in partnership with the Greater Ohio Showman's Association and Ohio's TechCred program, will provide funding for specialized training and certification through the National Association of Amusement Ride Safety Officials (NAARSO) Inspector and Operations certificate programs.
ODA Director Brian Baldridge emphasized that safety is a top priority, and this funding will better protect ride-goers at carnivals, fairs, festivals, and amusement parks. By obtaining NAARSO certification, Ohio will lead the nation in amusement ride safety with hands-on education and training for ride operators.
Tyler's Law ensures that Ohio's ride safety standards are among the strongest in the country. The rules, which adopt American Society for Testing and Materials (ASTM) standards, require ride owners to conduct thorough visual inspections and address any issues of fatigue or corrosion.
The Ohio Department of Agriculture remains committed to setting high safety standards for the amusement ride industry, prioritizing the health and safety of Ohioans who enjoy these attractions.
