Fairfield County Farm Bureau Hosts Public Policy Meeting

Fairfield County Farm Bureau Hosts Public Policy Meeting

By Andi Anderson

The Fairfield County Farm Bureau is inviting farmers, county officials, business owners, and concerned residents to attend a public policy meeting focused on issues affecting agriculture in the region.

The meeting will take place on Feb. 16, 2026, at 8 a.m. at Ohio University Lancaster, located at 1570 Granville Pike in Lancaster. The session will be held in Brasee Hall, Main Building, Room 227.

The purpose of the meeting is to gather feedback from the community about challenges facing local agriculture. In recent years, Fairfield County has experienced significant growth and development.

Expansion from Franklin County and the Columbus area has increased pressure on farmland and agricultural businesses. Farm leaders believe it is important to address these concerns through thoughtful policy planning.

Agriculture remains a major economic force in Fairfield County. According to the 2022 USDA Census, agricultural sales in the county exceeded $160 million. This highlights the importance of protecting and supporting the farming industry as the county continues to grow.

Farm Bureau representatives recognize that many residents have already shared concerns about business expansion and residential development moving into rural areas.

However, they believe additional input is needed to fully understand community priorities and develop effective policy solutions. The meeting offers an opportunity for open discussion and collaboration among stakeholders.

Those who wish to attend are asked to reserve a seat today. Reservations can be made by contacting the county Farm Bureau office by phone or email. Organizers encourage early registration to ensure adequate space for participants. Please contact the county Farm Bureau office at 740-474-6284 or fairfield@ofbf.org by Feb. 12  i.e. today to reserve your seat at the table.

Individuals who are unable to attend the meeting may still submit policy recommendations in writing. A completed form can be mailed to the Fairfield County Farm Bureau office in Circleville.

The event reflects the Farm Bureau’s commitment to listening to members and strengthening agriculture’s role in the county. By working together, community members can help shape policies that support farmers while managing responsible growth.
