The Ohio State University’s 62nd Farm Science Review is taking place this week, highlighting the strong ties between the university and the agricultural community.
The annual event, presented by the College of Food, Agricultural, and Environmental Sciences (CFAES), draws over 100,000 visitors from across the United States and Canada, including 7,000 youth from over 200 schools.
Held at Ohio State’s 2,100-acre Molly Caren Agricultural Center near London, Ohio, the event serves as a platform for showcasing the latest agricultural innovations, research, and educational outreach.
Ohio State President Walter “Ted” Carter Jr., attending his first review since joining the university, emphasized the importance of the university’s land-grant mission and its role in advancing agricultural innovation across the state.
CFAES, Ohio State’s largest college, is a key player in supporting agriculture beyond the classroom and laboratory. With Extension offices in all 88 Ohio counties, the college reaches 2.5 million Ohioans and supports over 150,000 young people through 4-H clubs and educational programs.
Vice President of Agricultural Administration and Dean of CFAES, Cathann A. Kress, noted that agriculture plays a vital role in Ohio’s economy, with one in seven jobs linked to the industry and 95% of the state’s farms being family-owned.
The Farm Science Review provides a unique opportunity for attendees to explore partnerships and witness the latest advancements in agriculture. More than 600 commercial exhibitors showcase over 400 product lines, including cutting-edge agricultural drones and innovative farming techniques.
The 100-acre exhibit area features interactive displays, while an additional 600 acres are dedicated to field demonstrations of precision agriculture equipment, nutrient applications, and drainage installations.
Workshops such as the “Ask the Expert” sessions offer valuable insights to help farmers address ongoing challenges, including drought conditions and other issues affecting the autumn harvest season.
Visitors can engage with experts and explore solutions tailored to the evolving needs of the agricultural community.
As Ohio State continues to drive agricultural research and education, the Farm Science Review remains a vital event for connecting the university with farmers, industry professionals, and communities across the region.
The event not only showcases advancements in agriculture but also underscores the university’s commitment to supporting Ohio’s agricultural legacy and future.
