Innovation shines at Farm Science Review

Innovation shines at Farm Science Review

By Andi Anderson

The 62nd annual Farm Science Review, hosted by The Ohio State University College of Food, Agricultural, and Environmental Sciences (CFAES), attracted over 108,000 attendees to the Molly Caren Agricultural Center in London, Ohio.

Despite experiencing one of the most severe droughts in recent history, farmers and exhibitors gathered to explore the latest innovations, safety measures, and resilience strategies in agriculture.

This year’s show featured numerous highlights, including expert presentations by Aaron Wilson, state climatologist and Ohio State University Extension specialist, on preparing for extreme weather. His insights were particularly relevant as drought conditions continued to escalate throughout the event.

A major attraction was the debut of the AGwagon, the world’s first purpose-built agriculture pick-up truck, revealed by the Certified Agriculture Group in partnership with FOX Factory Vehicles.

The show also hosted the first-ever virtual equipment auction, allowing attendees to participate remotely.

Field demonstrations covered nearly 600 acres, with average yields of 175 bushels per acre for corn and 50 bushels per acre for soybeans, both showing very dry conditions due to the drought. Additionally, the Ohio Agricultural Mental Health Alliance released its Farm Stress Survey results, providing valuable mental health resources to attendees.

Nick Zachrich, Farm Science Review manager, praised the event for its strong attendee-exhibitor interactions, emphasizing the importance of connections made during the show. “The relationships formed here this week will have a lasting impact on the agriculture industry in the years to come,” said Zachrich.

The event also welcomed notable attendees, including Ohio Governor Mike DeWine and Ohio State President Walter “Ted” Carter Jr. Exhibitors, such as Beck’s Hybrids and The Ohio Hemp Company, found the show to be a valuable platform for connecting with customers and sharing their products.

Looking ahead, the 2025 Farm Science Review is scheduled for September 16-18. Planning is already underway to make next year’s show even bigger and better. For more information, visit fsr.osu.edu or follow Farm Science Review on social media.
