Miami County Farm Bureau Hosts 2026 Public Policy Meeting in Troy

By Andi Anderson

The Miami County Farm Bureau is preparing to host its 2026 Public Policy Meeting on March 24 at the Tri-County Building in Troy. This annual gathering provides an important opportunity for farmers, landowners, agricultural businesses, and community members to come together and discuss issues that affect agriculture across Miami County.

Dinner will be served at 5 p.m., followed by an evening of updates, open discussion, and community engagement.

This year’s meeting will begin with an update and Q&A session focused on the prison facility project, a topic that has generated interest and questions within the community. Afterward, attendees will participate in a roundtable discussion covering additional subjects that are important to local agriculture.

Participants are encouraged to bring questions, concerns, and suggestions, or simply listen to the conversations taking place.

Organizers emphasize that the event is designed to gather insight directly from the public. The input collected helps guide the Miami County Farm Bureau’s efforts and ensures that local policy priorities reflect the needs of the agricultural community.

Attendees may RSVP online by March 20, or contact the Farm Bureau office by email at miami@ofbf.org or by calling 937‑335‑1471.

Miami County Farm Bureau President Kreig Smail shared a message encouraging broad community participation. “I know there are many more issues and concerns that affect the agricultural community within Miami County. Therefore, I am asking you to attend this meeting to give the Miami County Farm Bureau trustees a plan to help Miami County farmers, landowners and agricultural retailers thrive and be able to pass the land and the ag business to the next generation. Thank you and I hope to see you on March 24th.”

The Public Policy Meeting continues to serve as an essential platform for communication and collaboration among local agricultural leaders. By engaging directly with community members, the Farm Bureau ensures that the voices and experiences of those involved in agriculture play a central role in shaping the future of Miami County agriculture.
