NASDA Welcomes Farm Bill 2026 Release

NASDA Welcomes Farm Bill 2026 Release

By Jamie Martin

The National Association of State Departments of Agriculture (NASDA) has expressed strong support for the recently released Farm, Food, and National Security Act of 2026. The legislation was unveiled by U.S. House Agriculture Committee Chairman Glenn “GT” Thompson to guide the next phase of American agricultural policy.

“NASDA applauds Chairman Thompson for beginning the process of finalizing the Farm Bill 2.0. With the release of the legislative text, NASDA remains committed to advocating for a bipartisan farm bill that will advance the food, fiber and fuel provided by American agriculture,” said NASDA CEO Ted.

“Finishing a farm bill is vital to the food and agriculture sector, which benefits our economy, accounting for roughly one-fifth of U.S. economic activity and supporting nearly 23 million jobs. We welcome the opportunity to work with the House Agriculture Committee as they begin debating the Farm, Food, and National Security Act of 2026 next week,” said McKinney.

The organization stressed that a bipartisan approach is crucial to address the needs of the agricultural community. The Farm Bill impacts farmers, ranchers, and rural communities, supporting approximately 23 million jobs and contributing nearly 20% of the U.S. economy. A completed farm bill ensures continued growth, food security, and stability in agriculture.

NASDA remains committed to working with the House Agriculture Committee as debate begins. The new legislation covers essential areas including crop production, conservation programs, rural development, and national food security. It aims to provide a solid policy framework for farmers and ranchers while encouraging sustainable practices and innovation in the sector.

The association emphasized that timely completion of the bill is vital for planning, economic stability, and long-term food security. With its focus on collaboration and support for farmers, the Farm Bill 2026 represents a key step toward strengthening the agricultural sector, ensuring that American agriculture remains competitive, sustainable, and productive for years to come.
