The Miami County Farm Bureau Board of Trustees has announced that applications are now open for the First Harvest Grant. This program is designed to support students who choose to continue working in agriculture after graduating from high school.
The First Harvest Grant aims to provide financial assistance to young individuals who plan to remain active in farm operations. Starting a farming career can involve significant expenses, and this grant seeks to reduce some of that financial pressure. By offering support during this early stage, the program encourages the next generation to remain involved in agriculture.
Funds from the grant may be used to help cover a variety of farm-related costs. These expenses can include fuel, fertilizer, machinery, equipment repairs, land rent and other operational needs. The specific use of the funds will be reviewed and determined by the Miami County Farm Bureau to ensure they are applied appropriately and effectively.
The initiative reflects the organization’s commitment to strengthening local agriculture and supporting farm families. Young farmers often face rising production costs and market uncertainties.
Assistance through programs such as the First Harvest Grant can provide important encouragement and practical help as they establish themselves in the industry.
Students who are interested in applying must complete the application through the designated online link. Applications submitted in other formats will not be accepted. The deadline to apply for the grant is April 30, 2026.
By offering this opportunity, the Miami County Farm Bureau continues its efforts to invest in the future of farming. Supporting young producers helps maintain strong rural communities and ensures that agriculture remains sustainable for years to come.
