In Oxford, Ohio, a new meat processing plant is poised to address a pressing need for both farmers and residents. The Stockyards Packing Company, set to commence production in a few weeks, aims to process locally sourced meat and offer fresh cuts to the community.
Founded by farmer Andy Korb, the idea for the plant emerged during the COVID-19 pandemic when farmers faced difficulties finding suitable places to store or process their meat. Korb, having purchased a building before the outbreak, saw the opportunity to fill the gap in local meat processing facilities.
Recognizing the lack of support and capacity for meat processing in the area, Korb embarked on a three-year journey to establish the Stockyards Packing Company. The 14,000 square-foot addition to his farm is now nearing completion, ready to serve local farmers and offer fresh, locally produced meat to the community.
The venture has received overwhelming support from the local community, and Korb remains grateful for their encouragement. With a mission to meet the state's meat processing needs and cater to the demand for locally sourced products, the Stockyards Packing Company is set to become a vital asset for Ohio's farming community and residents alike.
