The Ohio Dairy Producers Association (ODPA) recently held its 2025 annual meeting, welcoming more than 130 farmers, industry leaders, and dairy experts. The event provided valuable insights and highlighted key strategies for shaping a prosperous future for Ohio’s dairy industry.
A major highlight of the event was the unveiling of a strategic plan aimed at strengthening Ohio's dairy industry.
This plan targets three primary areas of growth: expanding current dairy product processing facilities, attracting new dairy-related businesses to the state, and encouraging the growth of existing dairy farms. Attendees viewed a promotional video created by JobsOhio, showcasing why companies should consider investing in Ohio.
Rebecca Park, ODPA’s representative, explained that these strategic areas will play a critical role in shaping a prosperous and sustainable future for Ohio dairy producers.
The focus on expanding manufacturing facilities aims to create more market opportunities and jobs, benefiting local communities and providing long-term stability to dairy farmers.
Several informative sessions took place during the meeting. Dairy experts discussed the current state of the industry and provided insights into future market trends.
Federal Order 33's Market Administrator also presented a detailed report, helping farmers better understand market dynamics affecting their business. Additionally, representatives from the Ohio Department of Agriculture’s Division of Animal Health shared critical updates regarding animal health and safety practices.
The conference featured engaging student research presentations, highlighting ongoing dairy research conducted at Ohio universities. These projects demonstrated innovative ideas aimed at improving dairy farming practices, animal health, and efficiency.
The keynote speaker, Gregg Doud, President and CEO of the National Milk Producers Federation, emphasized key challenges and opportunities facing dairy farmers nationwide. Doud encouraged Ohio dairy farmers to actively pursue innovative solutions and stay informed about potential policy changes affecting their industry.
The annual meeting provided valuable information and fostered networking opportunities, enabling dairy farmers to share ideas, discuss challenges, and collaborate toward a successful future. Attendees left equipped with new insights and resources to enhance their businesses and ensure the long-term prosperity of dairy farming in Ohio.
