Ohio Wine Contest Seeks Name For Herb Wine Trail

By Andi Anderson

The Ohio Wine Producers Association has announced an exciting public contest ahead of a new herb themed wine trail event planned for June.

The event will celebrate Ohio Wine Month while bringing together local wineries, gardening and seasonal flavors in a fun and interactive way.

The association is asking the public to help name this new south central Ohio wine trail experience.

Participants who submit a creative event name will have a chance to win a free couples ticket valued at fifty dollars. Single tickets for the event will be available for $40.

The herb themed wine trail will take place throughout the month of June. Visitors may travel at their own pace and visit any participating winery during normal business hours. Guests are encouraged to check winery websites for hours of operation before visiting.

Each ticket will include a specialty herb starter kit. As travelers visit participating wineries they will collect different herb items while enjoying light food pairings and two samples of Ohio wine at each stop. By the end of the trail guests will have a complete herb collection to grow cooking herbs throughout the summer.

The experience is designed to combine wine tasting with hands on gardening. Participants will be able to grow fresh herbs at home and use them in meals paired with the bottles of Ohio wine collected along the trail. This approach highlights local agriculture seasonal enjoyment and creative experiences aligned with Ohio Wine Month.

The contest is open now and name ideas must be submitted by April 10. Entries should be sent by email to dwinchell@OhioWines.org. One winning entry will be selected to receive the free couples ticket.

Several south central Ohio wineries will take part in the event. Participating locations include Revolutionary Rockbridge in Rockbridge Three Oaks in Granville National Road Winery in Thornville Headley Inn Winery in Zanesville Valley View Hills in Heath Rhonemus Vineyard in Lancaster and Hocking Hills Winery in Logan.

The Ohio Wine Producers Association encourages community members wine enthusiasts and creative thinkers to participate. This new event aims to celebrate Ohio agriculture wine making and home gardening while offering a unique seasonal experience for visitors across the region.
