Students Explore Agriculture at Jackson Vinton Farm Bureau Event

Students Explore Agriculture at Jackson Vinton Farm Bureau Event

By Andi Anderson

The Jackson-Vinton Farm Bureau successfully organized the 2026 Ag Experience Day to promote agricultural learning among young students.

The event was conducted in partnership with the OARDC Research Farm and Jackson County OSU Extension. It welcomed all second-grade students from Jackson and Vinton counties, giving them a valuable opportunity to learn about agriculture in an engaging way.

The main goal of the event was to introduce students to farming and food production through hands-on activities.

These activities helped students understand where food comes from and how agriculture plays an important role in everyday life. The learning sessions were interactive, making it easy for young learners to stay interested and involved throughout the day.

Several Future Farmers of America (FFA) chapters played an important role in the event’s success. Students from the Jackson, Wellston, and Oak Hill FFA chapters prepared and presented educational sessions.

Their creative presentations helped explain agricultural topics in a simple and fun manner. These sessions also encouraged curiosity and helped students ask questions and learn more about farming practices.

Support from local businesses and community members added great value to the event. G&J Pepsi provided beverages, while Domino’s Pizza of Jackson arranged lunch for the FFA students. These contributions ensured that participants stayed comfortable and focused during the program.

Another highlight of the event was the recognition of student creativity. Congressman Dave Taylor supported the program by providing certificates for winners of the Design-a-T-Shirt activity. This activity encouraged students to express their thoughts about agriculture through art.

The success of the event was made possible through the efforts of organizers, volunteers, schools, and community supporters. Their teamwork created a positive learning environment for young students. Overall, the Ag Experience Day helped increase awareness about agriculture while inspiring students to appreciate the importance of farming in their daily lives.
