The Jackson Vinton Farm Bureau is preparing to host a Youth Ag Safety and Wellness Day aimed at helping young people develop safe and healthy habits for agricultural life.
The event will take place on April 17, 2026, from 9:30 a.m. to 1:15 p.m. at the Jackson County Fairgrounds and is designed especially for FFA members.
This educational program focuses on building confidence and responsibility among youth who are involved in agriculture. Farming environments can present physical and emotional challenges, and early education plays an important role in preparing young people to manage these situations safely.
The event will offer hands on learning experiences that focus on real world situations commonly faced on farms.
Participants will rotate through age-appropriate activities and demonstrations related to farm safety and injury prevention. These sessions are designed to teach students how to recognize hazards, follow proper safety practices, and respond correctly in emergency situations.
Topics may include equipment awareness, working safely around animals, and protecting personal health during daily farm tasks.
In addition to physical safety, the event places strong emphasis on wellness and mental health. Organizers recognize that stress management and emotional wellbeing are essential parts of a healthy agricultural lifestyle. Youth will learn about maintaining mental wellness, building healthy routines, and supporting one another both on and off the farm.
The interactive nature of the program allows students to actively participate rather than simply observe.
Through demonstrations and guided discussions, participants will gain practical skills that can be applied immediately in their homes, schools, and agricultural activities. This approach helps reinforce learning and encourages long term safety awareness.
The Youth Ag Safety and Wellness Day is open to FFA members who are registered by their FFA advisors. By working closely with schools and agricultural educators, the Farm Bureau aims to reach students who are already engaged in agriculture and interested in building responsible farming practices.
Events like this reflect the continued commitment of the Farm Bureau to agricultural education and youth development. By teaching safety and wellness at an early age, the program supports a future generation of knowledgeable, healthy, and confident agricultural leaders.
