The Ohio Cattlemen’s Association (OCA) celebrated the exceptional contributions of Dr. Steve DeBruin, DVM, by presenting him with the coveted Industry Excellence Award at the Annual Meeting and Awards Banquet on January 13, 2024. Held at the Hilton Polaris Hotel in Columbus, Ohio, this accolade, sponsored by the Fairfield County Cattlemen’s Association, recognized Dr. DeBruin's unwavering commitment to the state's beef industry.
A 1983 graduate of OSU College of Veterinary Medicine, Dr. DeBruin purchased the Feeder Creek Vet Clinic after graduation, with a primary focus on beef cattle veterinary work. Now one of six practicing veterinarians at the clinic, he dedicates himself to preventing problems and enhancing production, assisting producers in maximizing profitability.
Dr. DeBruin's passion for veterinary medicine extends beyond his practice; he envisions veterinarians playing a pivotal role in making beef producers more profitable and proud of their operations.
Notably, Dr. DeBruin served as the President of the Ohio Cattlemen’s Association in 2002. During his tenure, he not only delved into the political aspects of agriculture but also played a key role in establishing the state’s enduring Beef Quality Assurance program. This program remains integral, ensuring the health and responsible raising of beef cattle in Ohio.
For Dr. DeBruin, being a beef cattle veterinarian isn't just a profession; it's a mission to make a meaningful difference and contribute to the success and profitability of beef producers.
