The Ohio Farm Bureau is now accepting applications for the 2025 Young Agricultural Professionals (YAP) competitive events. These events include the Discussion Meet, Excellence in Agriculture, and Outstanding Young Farmer contests.
Aimed at young agricultural professionals aged 18-35, these competitions provide an opportunity to showcase achievements in business and community involvement.
Discussion Meet
The Discussion Meet simulates a committee meeting where active participation and idea exchange are essential. Participants discuss a predetermined topic, developing discussion skills and a deep understanding of agricultural issues. This event encourages collaboration to find solutions. Applications for the Discussion Meet are due by September 30.
Excellence in Agriculture
This award recognizes young agricultural professionals (singles or couples) who actively contribute to Farm Bureau and agriculture without having the majority of their income subject to production risk. The top three applicants will present a 25-minute presentation to a panel of judges. Applications for the Excellence in Agriculture award are due by December 20.
Outstanding Young Farmer
The Outstanding Young Farmer contest honors young farmers who excel in farming business and leadership within the agricultural community. Applicants should have a significant portion of their income subject to production risks and ownership in their operation. Applications for the Outstanding Young Farmer contest are due by December 20.
These competitive events are crucial for the Ohio Farm Bureau, as they help members evaluate and discuss agricultural and community issues to find the best solutions. Recognizing the achievements of young agricultural professionals strengthens the Farm Bureau and supports the future of agriculture in Ohio.
